BeakonBot, the Beakon robot
BeakonBot is the robot of Beakon, an SEO and AI-visibility audit service. This page says what it does, when it visits, and how to block it.
How to recognise it
It sends this user agent:
BeakonBot/1.0 (+https://beakonhq.com/bot)When it visits
- Only when a Beakon user enters a URL. BeakonBot does not crawl the web on its own and keeps no index.
- To suggest AI citation queries, it reads the home page and at most four key pages (about, products, services, pricing): title, description, headings and a short extract of the text.
- During an audit with JavaScript rendering, it loads the audited pages in a browser to see the content scripts add.
What it never does
- No login and no form submission: it only reads public pages.
- No resale of your content, and Beakon does not use your pages to train AI models.
- No attempt to get around a bot protection: a page that refuses access (401, 403, 429) is left alone.
How to block it
BeakonBot follows the rules of your robots.txt written for BeakonBot (when it reads pages to suggest queries, it also honours Crawl-delay). To block it everywhere:
User-agent: BeakonBot
Disallow: /Or only part of the site, at a slower pace:
User-agent: BeakonBot
Disallow: /private/
Crawl-delay: 5Note: the raw HTML of audited pages is fetched by the Beakon audit crawler, which identifies as seo-crawler/0.1 and follows the robots.txt rules for that name (or for *).
